Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr remains absent for personal reasons
Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerhi confirmed that Senegalese midfielder Pape Matar Sarr is still missing from the squad because of a personal issue. The club ruled out any sporting or disciplinary cause. De Zerhi said the decision was made jointly with the player and is part of an individualized rest plan following the World Cup, during which Sarr played only 65 minutes. His absence comes as Tottenham have reinforced their midfield with new signings Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, heightening competition for places.
The situation mirrors that of Uruguay international Rodrigo Bentancur, who also requested extra time off after a demanding season. De Zerhi assured that both players remain key members of the team and that no tension exists within the club.
