Pape Matar Sarr transfer and squad status

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pape Matar Sarr initially missed squad duties due to personal reasons, which manager Roberto De Zerhi described as an “individualized rest plan.” Following the arrivals of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, Sarr’s playing time decreased, with only 13 Premier League starts during the 2025–26 season.

As of August 2026, Sarr has reportedly been placed on the transfer list after expressing a desire to leave the club to secure more playing time. This follows further competition in the midfield following the arrival of Conor Gallagher. While Sarr is under contract until 2030, Tottenham appears willing to entertain offers to streamline their squad.

Everton has been identified as a potential suitor, seeking a long-term replacement for Idrissa Gueye, who joined Al-Diriyah. Other interested clubs include Nottingham Forest, Brentford, Aston Villa, and Galatasaray. While Galatasaray has reportedly entered talks, Sarr is said to prefer remaining in the Premier League. Tottenham’s valuation of the 23-year-old has reportedly risen from approximately £21 million to roughly £30 million.
