Tour de France 2027 route details emerge
Details regarding the 2027 Tour de France, scheduled to run from July 2 to July 25, are beginning to emerge ahead of the official route unveiling on October 22. The race is set to feature a Grand Départ in Scotland, with the first stage starting in Edinburgh and including the Melrose climb. The second stage is expected to traverse northern Scotland before finishing in Liverpool, while the third stage is rumored to head into Wales with a finish in Cardiff.
Following a rest day on July 5, the race is anticipated to return to France. Potential routes include segments through Normandy's Cotentin region, Brittany, and a sprint in Angers. Reports suggest a time trial around the Loire Valley castles during the ninth stage. In the Ain department, the ninth stage may be entirely local, potentially starting near Villars-les-Dombes and finishing at the summit of Grand Colombier.
While the Alps will be featured, they may not serve as the primary mountain range for this edition. The route is expected to connect various regions including Bourges and Le Creusot before moving toward the Alps after the mid-race rest day.
