Tour de France 2027: Route rumors and new jersey proposal

The 2027 Tour de France is facing both logistical rumors and potential regulatory changes. A detailed map circulating on social media has been identified as unofficial, despite its visual credibility and inclusion of confirmed starting stages in Edinburgh, Carlisle, Liverpool, and Cardiff. The map contains inaccuracies, such as claiming Saint-James will host a stage, a plan that was recently rejected by local officials.

Separately, the Professional Cycling Council has approved a principle that could introduce a new distinctive jersey for Grand Tours starting in 2027. This jersey would be worn by the highest-ranking rider from the host nation. While supported by the UCI and riders, the proposal faces opposition from professional teams represented by the AIGCP. Teams argue that the new jersey could reduce the commercial visibility of their sponsors, potentially impacting the value of existing sponsorship contracts.
