Tour de France stages bring major traffic disruptions to Barcelona and Catalonia

The opening stages of the Tour de France will pass through Barcelona and the surrounding Catalan region from July 5‑6, prompting three days of road closures, parking bans and bus diversions. In Barcelona, the neighbourhood association FAVB warned that districts such as Eixample, Sant Martí and Sants‑Montjuïc will face “talls, restriccions i limitacions” of mobility, with the city estimating a €9.8 million cost for the event.

Across Catalonia, the race will affect 64 municipalities in 11 comarcas. Authorities expect up to 1.3 million spectators over the three‑day period. Key routes like the A‑7, N‑340, C‑31 and access roads to the C‑32 will be closed temporarily, with heavy‑vehicle speed limits of 80 km/h and lane restrictions. The Servei Català de Trànsit will operate mobile information units and variable‑message signs, while urging citizens to check real‑time traffic updates via official channels.
