Tourism authorities launch new initiatives to target Japanese travel markets

Tourism authorities in Japan and Fiji are implementing strategic initiatives to expand their reach within the Japanese market.

The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) hosted Philippine influencer Pamela Swing in Hakodate to promote regional tourism. As part of a large-scale Asian campaign to attract repeat travelers, Swing visited local landmarks such as the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse and Goryokaku Park to showcase the area's appeal to Southeast Asian audiences.

Simultaneously, the Fiji Tourism Board has selected 12 business partners in Japan to strengthen its presence in the Free Independent Traveler (FIT) and educational travel sectors. This move follows a significant increase in Japanese visitors to Fiji, with numbers rising 20% between January and July compared to the previous year. The partnership includes seven travel agencies and five educational travel organizations aimed at developing diverse products ranging from cultural experiences to English language learning programs.
