Tourism investment expands in Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is seeing significant new investments in its tourism sector. Lopesan Hotel Group has announced a 300 million euro expansion in Playa Bávaro, Punta Cana, featuring three distinct five-star resorts. This project will add 1,035 rooms through different concepts: the Lopesan Caoba Lagoon Resort, Spa & Casino, which includes a convention center planned for 2027 to target the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and events) market; and the Lopesan Splash Cove Resort, Spa & Casino, designed for the family market with all-inclusive services and water parks.

In a separate development, the KAIA Glamping project was officially launched in Nisibón during the First International Short Rental Congress of the Dominican Republic. This ecotourism initiative aims to capture travelers entering through Punta Cana and diversify the offerings in the eastern region near Miches. The project emphasizes combining financial profitability with social impact, such as job creation and supporting local suppliers, to increase the economic value of tourism in the surrounding environment.
