Tourism Minister Abla Dzifa Gomashie tours Ghana's Bono Region
Ghanaian Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has commenced a working tour of the Bono Region to promote tourism development and cultural preservation.
During her visit, the Minister addressed the critical issue of land encroachment. She issued a warning to trespassers and developers attempting to illegally occupy lands belonging to the Ghana Tourism Authority and the Center for National Culture, stating, “The lands for the sector remain the lands for the sector. KEEP OFF.” Such encroachment threatens the development of heritage sites, performance arts centers, and tourism infrastructure.
In Bono Manso, the Minister commended local residents for maintaining clean environments and preserving green vegetation, noting these efforts enhance the area's tourism potential. Her tour included visits to historical sites such as the Tanor Buasi Secret Growth, the Bono Manso slave market, and local waterfalls. Additionally, she emphasized the importance of documenting and promoting the Bono language to strengthen the region's cultural identity.
