Egypt and Morocco report significant growth in tourism revenues
Tourism sectors in Egypt and Morocco are experiencing substantial growth. In Egypt, tourism revenues rose by 12.7% during the first quarter of the current fiscal year, reaching $6.2 billion compared to $5.5 billion in the same period last year. Experts attribute this increase to higher average spending per tourist, longer stays, and a diverse range of source markets, including Russia, Germany, Poland, the UK, Italy, and the Czech Republic. There is a projection that revenues could reach $22 billion by the end of the fiscal year, supported by political stability and improved hotel services.
In Morocco, the tourism GDP grew by 11.7% in 2025, reaching 129.7 billion dirhams. This growth increased the sector's contribution to the national GDP from 7.2% in 2024 to 7.5% in 2025. Data from the High Commission for Planning (HCP) indicates that inbound tourism (non-residents) drove much of this momentum, accounting for 69.2% of total tourism consumption. Morocco is currently working toward a tourism roadmap for 2027–2030, aiming to host 26 million tourists by 2030, coinciding with the country co-hosting the World Cup.
