Brazil aviation sector hits 26-year passenger record

Brazil's aviation sector has reached record levels of activity. According to data from the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and the Ministry of Tourism, the country recorded 59 million domestic passengers between January and July 2026. This represents a 4.04% increase compared to the same period in 2025 and marks the highest volume for this period since the historical series began in 2000.

July specifically saw a record-breaking 9.1 million domestic passengers, up 1.85% from the previous year. International travel also showed significant growth, with 17.7 million passengers recorded in the first seven months of 2026, an 8.2% increase over 2025. July also marked the highest international passenger volume for that month in history, with 2.7 million travelers.

The growth in passenger numbers has been accompanied by a rise in business tourism. Revenue from business travel reached R$ 8.4 billion in the first seven months of 2026, an 8% increase from the R$ 7.8 billion recorded during the same period in 2025. Additionally, air cargo movement has seen upward trends in both domestic and international segments.
