Tourist rescued alive after five days missing in Chirripó National Park

A Costa Rican tourist has been rescued alive after being missing for five days in Chirripó National Park. The individual disappeared on August 10 after separating from his group while hiking between Base Crestones and Chirripó Peak.

Search teams, including the Costa Rican Red Cross, the ENA Tourism Association, and the SOS Chirripó group, located the man in the Las Morenas sector, approximately 800 meters off the main trail. According to reports from the Red Cross, the man was suffering from dehydration and various bruises.

Ronald Chan, director of the La Amistad Pacífico Conservation Area (ACLAP), confirmed that the tourist is in stable condition and is receiving medical evaluations. The rescue operation involved dozens of personnel, including professional rescuers, technical staff, and specialized mountain paramedics, utilizing drones to survey difficult terrain.
