Toyota updates global lineup with Land Cruiser hybrid and Fortuner testing

Toyota is implementing significant updates across its global vehicle lineup, focusing on hybridization and new model testing. In Japan, the Land Cruiser 300 series is being updated with its first hybrid powertrain, featuring a 3.5L V6 twin-turbo engine paired with an electric motor to produce 457 hp. This update also introduces electric power steering and enhanced interior features for the ZX and GR Sport grades.

In Thailand, the next-generation Toyota Fortuner is undergoing final testing. Spy shots show the SUV being tested alongside competitors like the Ford Everest and Isuzu MU-X to refine handling and suspension. The new model is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Regional market trends show varied performance. In Argentina, the automotive market is contracting, with Toyota's Yaris seeing a significant year-on-year sales decline despite remaining a top-selling model. Meanwhile, in Spain, the Yaris Cross has received an aesthetic refresh and updated interior materials, including plant-based PVC to reduce CO2 emissions during production.
