Toyota confirms RAV4 plug‑in hybrid will debut in Brazil by year‑end

Toyota is preparing to introduce a plug‑in hybrid version of its best‑selling RAV4 SUV to the Brazilian market. The model is expected to arrive by the end of the year, with some sources indicating a 2026 launch timeframe. The RAV4 PHEV will retain the 2.5‑litre naturally aspirated engine and add more powerful electric motors, delivering a combined output of 329 hp (239 hp in the standard hybrid) and a 22.7 kWh battery that enables about 87 km of electric‑only driving under WLTP. Acceleration from 0‑100 km/h is quoted at 5.8 seconds. Dimensions remain unchanged, while trunk capacity ranges from 456 to 514 liters depending on the spare‑tire configuration. Pricing is projected around 400,000 reais, placing the plug‑in between conventional hybrids and the luxury Lexus NX450h+. During a recent event, Toyota Brazil’s commercial general manager Soraya Battistini said, “Existe a possibilidade, mas ainda não está 100 % confirmado. Mas queremos.”
