Toyota details next‑gen GR Supra and GR‑Sport Corolla Cross models

Toyota is planning a new generation of its GR Supra sports car, aiming for a 2027 launch with a possible 450 PS hybrid powertrain. The model may shift from the current BMW‑co‑developed platform to a Toyota‑led design, featuring a 2.0‑liter turbocharged inline‑four paired with a single electric motor, a distinctive “hammer‑head” front face, and a price estimated in the high ¥60 million range.

In a separate release, Toyota introduced the GR SPORT trim for the Corolla Cross SUV. Priced at ¥3.895 million (up to ¥4.408 million with options), the trim adds a lowered ride height, exclusive 19‑inch wheels, sport‑styled front bumper, red‑accented brake calipers, upgraded interior trim, and a paddle‑shift gear lever. Optional accessories such as heated seats and extra USB‑C ports are also highlighted.

Both announcements reinforce Toyota’s strategy to expand the performance‑focused GR line with higher‑output powertrains and sportier styling while maintaining the brand’s broader market appeal.
