Toyota GR GT supercar sells out initial US allocation

Toyota’s new GR GT supercar has already sold out its initial allocation for the United States market. The vehicle, which was presented during Monterey Car Week, is expected to have an approximate starting price of $220,000.

Toyota is intentionally limiting production to maintain exclusivity and ensure the car reaches driving enthusiasts rather than speculators. Andrew Gilleland, Toyota’s Senior Vice President of Automotive Operations, stated that the limited supply is by design, noting, “We don’t want to sell cars to flippers; we only want people who are going to drive it.” The first U.S. batch is expected to consist of approximately 200 to 250 units, with deliveries projected to begin in 2027.

Developed as a “homologation special” based on the GR GT3 race car, the road-going version features a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine paired with a hybrid system, producing over 641 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque. The car utilizes an all-aluminum body frame and specialized aerodynamic features designed to meet GT3 racing regulations.
