Toyota GR Yaris receives upgraded steering, new features and German pricing

Toyota has refined its GR Yaris hot‑hatch for the German market. The steering wheel was reshaped with input from professional racers: it is slightly smaller, the grip area enlarged, thumb rests removed and the button layout re‑positioned to avoid accidental activation. Drawing on motorsport experience, the wheel now accommodates up to 180° of travel without hand‑overlap, and switch clusters were moved farther from the grip.

Additional updates include a new GR emblem on the wheel, enhancements to the electric power steering system such as a stiffer torsion bar in the torque sensor and updated control software, and a revised suspension tuned for the new Bridgestone high‑performance tires. The damping settings have been adjusted accordingly. A mandatory driver‑monitoring camera now links to the vehicle’s emergency‑stop system, and seat and steering‑wheel heating are available together with an optional vertical handbrake. The standard GR Yaris is priced at €47,590, while the Aero‑Performance package – which adds an adjustable rear spoiler and five other aerodynamic components – starts at €51,090.
