Toyota Highlander launches nationwide in Japan on Aug 1 2026

Toyota announced that its US‑built, three‑row, 7‑seat Highlander SUV will be sold at all Toyota dealerships across Japan starting 1 August 2026. The model, a 2.5‑L hybrid equipped with electronic four‑wheel drive (E‑Four) and offered only in the Limited ZR trim, is priced at ¥8.6 million and includes features such as a 12.3‑inch display, JBL Premium sound, full‑glass roof and Toyota Safety Sense. At 4 950 mm long, 1 930 mm wide and 1 730 mm high, it follows the lineage of the former Kluger and has sold roughly 3.6 million units worldwide since its 2001 debut. Consumer reaction in Japan has been positive, with remarks that the vehicle fills a gap for large‑family and outdoor‑use SUVs and that it finally becomes available nationwide after an earlier limited release in Tokyo.
