Toyota implements strict buyer interviews for new GR GT supercar

Toyota has introduced the GR GT, a high-performance supercar featuring a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 hybrid engine producing approximately 641 to 650 cv and 850 Nm of torque. Positioned as the most expensive model in the company’s history, the vehicle is expected to retail for over $220,000 in the United States.

To prevent unauthorized resale for profit, Toyota is implementing a strict selection process. Potential buyers must undergo interviews with company executives through 'The Quail' program to discuss vehicle specifications and intended usage. Andrew Gilleland, Toyota’s Vice President of Automotive Operations, stated that the company aims to sell to driving enthusiasts rather than those seeking to flip the cars for profit.

Production will be highly limited. While global figures have not been finalized, it is estimated that only 200 to 250 units will be allocated to the US market. Although interest is high, Toyota clarified that while the model is not yet sold out, the selection process is ongoing and many applicants have yet to receive approval.
