Toyota Land Cruiser FJ expands global availability
The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ, a new entry in the Land Cruiser family, is expanding its market presence. Positioned as a more compact alternative to the 300 and 250 series, the FJ features a body measuring 4,575mm in length and 1,855mm in width. It is built on the IMV (Innovative International Multipurpose Vehicle) platform, the same foundation used for the Hilux, and is manufactured at Toyota's Ban Pho plant in Thailand.
Under the hood, the FJ VX model utilizes a 2.7-liter 2TR-FE four-cylinder engine producing 163 PS and 246 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a part-time 4WD system. Despite its pop-style SUV appearance, it retains rugged characteristics such as a ladder-frame chassis and enhanced rigidity for off-road capability.
In markets like Hong Kong, Japanese-spec (JDM) versions of the Land Cruiser FJ have begun arriving via parallel importers due to high demand and initial supply shortages in Japan. These imports are noted for meeting local emission standards, whereas some Thai-produced versions may not comply with specific regional regulations.
