Toyota launches new RAV4 Adventure hybrid in Japan

Toyota unveiled the sixth‑generation RAV4 Adventure hybrid for the Japanese market. The trim is priced at ¥4.5 million and sits alongside the higher‑spec Z grade at ¥4.9 million. The new model retains the GA‑K platform, now heavily revised, and pairs a 2.5‑litre straight‑four engine with an upgraded front motor, delivering a combined output of 240 PS (up from 222 PS). All domestic versions feature the E‑Four all‑wheel‑drive system.

The RAV4 continues to be Toyota’s best‑selling SUV worldwide, reaching 1.18 million units in 2024 and briefly overtaking the Tesla Model Y for the global top spot. Toyota plans to launch the hybrid version in December 2025, followed by a plug‑in hybrid variant in February 2026. The model’s larger luggage capacity (749 L) and refined interior design aim to maintain its strong market position amid intensifying competition from rival manufacturers.
