Toyota launches refreshed RAV4 with hybrid and plug‑in powertrains

Toyota unveiled a new generation of its RAV4 SUV, adding conventional hybrid and plug‑in hybrid versions with AWD‑i. The standard hybrid delivers 185 kW (185 hp) in front‑wheel drive or 194 hp with AWD, while the plug‑in hybrid reaches 272 hp (FWD) or 309 hp (AWD) and accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. Official fuel consumption is 4.9–5.7 L/100 km for the hybrids and 1.3–1.8 L/100 km for the plug‑ins, with electric ranges of 121–137 km. Cargo capacity remains high at 514 L (hybrid) and 446 L (plug‑in).

Chinese automaker JAECOO offers the 7 SHS hybrid as a lower‑priced rival. It combines a 204‑hp electric motor with a 1.5‑litre turbo gasoline engine for a combined 224 hp, 0–100 km/h in 8.3 seconds and an official fuel use of 5.3 L/100 km. A 60‑L fuel tank gives an estimated electric‑only range exceeding 1,000 km. The vehicle is equipped with a 10.25‑inch instrument panel, 13.2‑inch central screen and advanced climate filtration, and is priced around €27,700 after financing, substantially below the Toyota RAV4.
