Toyota launches sixth-generation RAV4 with electrified powertrains

Toyota has introduced the sixth generation of the RAV4, transitioning the model line to exclusively electrified powertrains. The new lineup includes hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options as part of the company’s multi-pathway strategy to offer various emission-reduction technologies.

The 2026 RAV4 Hybrid Limited features a fifth-generation hybrid system with all-wheel drive, producing up to 236 horsepower. This model offers an estimated fuel efficiency of 43 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway, with a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds and a cargo capacity of 37.8 cubic feet.

The plug-in hybrid variant utilizes a 2.5-litre petrol engine paired with a 22.7 kWh lithium-ion battery. Depending on the configuration, the PHEV offers an electric-only range of approximately 144 km to 154 km. The all-wheel-drive versions, such as the XSE or GR SPORT, deliver up to 227 kW of power.
