Toyota launches updated RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid SUV

Toyota has introduced the new generation of its RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) SUV, featuring significant upgrades in power, battery capacity, and efficiency.

In Brazil, the new RAV4 XSE PHEV is priced at R$ 399,990, maintaining the same price point as the previous generation despite offering increased performance. The updated model delivers a combined 329 cv of power, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. It utilizes a 2.5-liter gasoline engine paired with three electric units to provide all-wheel drive (AWD) without a mechanical driveshaft. The lithium-ion battery capacity has increased to 22.7 kWh, providing an Inmetro-homologated electric-only range of 61 km, up from 55 km in the previous version. The vehicle also now supports DC fast charging.

Testing in other markets highlights the model's efficiency, with reports achieving fuel consumption as low as 0.9 l/100 km during long-distance drives. The new design features a more boxy silhouette, improved interior lighting through increased glass area, and a redesigned cargo space, though the PHEV variant offers a slightly smaller trunk capacity of 446 liters compared to the standard model.
