Toyota launches Yaris Fastback hybrid and expands multi‑pathway electrification strategy
Toyota is promoting its Multi‑pathway electrification strategy, which combines four electric‑vehicle technologies—hybrid electric (HEV), plug‑in hybrid (PHEV), battery electric (BEV) and fuel‑cell electric (FCEV)—to reduce CO₂ emissions and meet market‑specific needs. In Mexico the company has sold more than 225,000 hybrids, saving an estimated 1.9 million tonnes of CO₂, roughly 10 % of the city's annual emissions. The strategy also includes plans to introduce 30 BEV models worldwide and develop solid‑state batteries for commercial use by 2027‑2028.
As part of this approach, Toyota unveiled the new Yaris Fastback HEV in Ecuador. The model is the first full hybrid in its segment, featuring a self‑charging powertrain, a 10.1‑inch multimedia screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360‑degree camera, six airbags, and Toyota Safety Sense driver‑assist technologies. It comes with Toyota’s 10‑year/200,000‑km warranty, positioning the Yaris Fastback as the most equipped and safety‑focused vehicle in its class.
