Toyota MR2 prototype spotted testing at Japan's Fuji Speedway

A prototype of a new mid‑engine Toyota sports car was captured on video while undergoing testing at Fuji Speedway in Japan. The vehicle, reminiscent of the classic MR2, features a low, wide body, large front air intakes, a pronounced splitter, and a swan‑neck rear spoiler. Visual cues suggest the engine is mounted behind the cabin and may be a 2.0‑litre turbocharged G20E unit capable of 300‑400 hp, similar to the powertrain used in the GR Yaris.

Toyota has been developing mid‑engine concepts for several years and plans up to 20 development stages before a production model is announced.
