Toyota RAV4 hybrid launch fuels strong demand in Argentina and US used‑car market
Toyota introduced the sixth‑generation RAV4 in Argentina, adding a hybrid (HEV) and a plug‑in hybrid (PHEV) version along with the country's first fully electric bZ4X. The new RAV4 offers dual‑motor AWD, up to 329 hp, and a 22.7 kWh battery that delivers about 142 km of electric range. The rollout is part of Toyota's Beyond Zero initiative aimed at carbon neutrality.
In the United States, a production lull as Toyota shifts to the new generation has left dealerships with only about five days of RAV4 hybrid inventory, far below the overall 15‑day stock level. The shortage has pushed used RAV4 hybrids to sell above the original MSRP, with some 2024–2025 models listed $6‑8 k higher than their new‑car price. Buyers are willing to pay the premium to secure a vehicle that delivers over 40 mpg and avoids high fuel costs, while Toyota plans to ramp up production and bring prices down over time.
