Toyota RAV4 receives updates in Japan and awaits safety ratings in Australia

Toyota is introducing updates to the sixth-generation RAV4 in Japan, with a scheduled launch expected around November 2, 2026. The refresh focuses on enhancing off-road capabilities by adding Multi-Terrain Select modes, including ‘MUD & SAND’ and ‘ROCK & DIRT’, alongside existing settings. These updates come with a price increase of approximately 50,000 yen across various hybrid and plug-in hybrid models.

In Australia, Toyota expects sales of the RAV4 to increase following anticipated five-star ANCAP safety ratings. While the current model has been a top seller, it currently lacks an official ANCAP rating, which limits its appeal to government and corporate fleet buyers who require specific safety certifications. Testing is scheduled for the final quarter of the year to align with European standards.
