Toyota resumes engine production in Porto Feliz after reconstruction

Toyota has begun the gradual resumption of activities at its engine factory in Porto Feliz, Brazil, following the completion of the first stage of reconstruction and modernization. The facility was severely damaged by a climate event one year ago, which necessitated the demolition of the original structure.

Operations are restarting with the casting process, with an initial capacity of approximately 400 engines per day. While the new plant is being built, machining and assembly stages will continue at a prepared industrial park in Porto Feliz to maintain production, including flex engines for the Yaris Cross.

The company expects the facility to reach full capacity by 2028. Approximately 150 employees are scheduled to return to the plant by the end of 2026. Once fully reconstructed, the unit is intended to expand the production of flex hybrid engines to serve both the Brazilian market and international exports. This recovery was supported by Toyota units in Japan, Europe, and Asia, which helped maintain the global supply chain during the reconstruction period.
