Toyota rolls out sporty upgrades for Corolla Sport and adds Aqua GR SPORT trim in Japan
Toyota Motor Corporation announced a partial facelift for the Corolla Sport model, released on 13 July. The update includes new 225/40R18 tires, 18‑inch alloy wheels and additional body‑colour options. A limited‑edition G‑Z ACTIVE ELEGANCE version celebrates the Corolla’s 60th anniversary with special badging, a black‑and‑mustard paint scheme, leather‑and‑Branoubs sport seats and distinctive interior trim.
On 6 July, Toyota also launched a new GR SPORT grade for its compact Aqua hybrid. The trim adds aggressive exterior styling such as a unique front bumper, rear spoiler and dark‑finished aluminium wheels, as well as a sport‑tuned suspension, reinforced chassis and red‑painted brake calipers. Inside, the GR SPORT features GR‑branded sports seats, a three‑spoke leather‑wrapped steering wheel and metal‑accented trim. The new grade has attracted significant attention on Japanese social media, with users praising its design and comparing its price to the GR 86 sports car.
