Toyota unveils futuristic Corolla concept ahead of 2027 launch
Toyota displayed a next‑generation Corolla concept at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. The design features a sharply sloped front, large wheels and a “hammerhead” or “shark‑face” styling, with a streamlined roofline and duck‑tail rear. Inside, a floating central console and a raised floor suggest preparation for a battery pack. The company said the model could be offered with a range of powertrains – conventional gasoline, hybrid, plug‑in hybrid and pure electric – as part of its multi‑pathway strategy toward carbon‑neutrality, and the platform is expected to roll out in 2026 with production likely around 2027, including a European hatch version.
In Argentina, Toyota introduced the 2026 Corolla Cross lineup, adding a GR‑S trim with a new grille, 18‑inch alloy wheels and sport‑styled interior elements, plus the XEI version’s Connected Services platform for remote monitoring, maintenance alerts and vehicle tracking. Powertrain options remain the 2.0‑L gasoline unit (171 hp) and the 1.8‑L hybrid (122 hp). Prices start at roughly US$51,900 for the base gasoline model, and the warranty covers ten years or 200,000 km.
Both announcements highlight Toyota’s continued expansion of the Corolla family with updated designs and broader electrification options.
