TP-Link announces Wi-Fi 8 Archer 8 Ultra and Deco 8 Ultra
TP-Link has announced its first Wi-Fi 8 devices, including the Archer 8 Ultra router and the Deco 8 Ultra mesh system. Built on the upcoming IEEE 802.11bn standard using Broadcom chipsets, these devices prioritize connection stability and consistency over mere peak speeds.
The Archer 8 Ultra offers up to 19Gbps throughput across three bands and features two 10Gbps auto-sensing WAN/LAN ports alongside four 2.5Gbps LAN ports. It utilizes a StabilityEngine to deliver up to 33% more consistent throughput than Wi-Fi 7 at mid-to-long range. The router includes 18 internal antennas, providing coverage for up to 3,600 square feet and supporting up to 200 devices.
The Deco 8 Ultra is a tri-band mesh system capable of 22Gbps aggregate wireless speeds and 10Gbps wired connectivity. A three-pack of the Deco system can cover up to 9,800 square feet.
Both systems incorporate AI-driven management features, such as an AI Wi-Fi Optimizer and an Aerial assistant to monitor and correct connection issues in real time. The Archer 8 Ultra is available for pre-order in the UK with a progressive global rollout through 2027, while the Deco 8 Ultra is expected in Q1 2027.
