TP Mazembe defeats Medeama SC 1-0 in CAF Champions League first leg

TP Mazembe secured a 1-0 victory against Medeama SC in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round at TNA Stadium in Tarkwa, Ghana. After a scoreless first half, the Congolese side broke the deadlock in the 86th minute when Lyse Nyembo scored following a pass from Lanjesi Nkoma.

Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko expressed disappointment over the home defeat but maintained optimism for the return leg. Despite creating several chances, the Ghanaian side was unable to find the net. TP Mazembe also had a second goal disallowed in the 91st minute due to a disputed position.

The second leg of the tie is scheduled to take place in Lubumbashi in one week, where Medeama SC will attempt to overturn the deficit and advance to the group stages.
