Trabzon and Denizli advance urban railway projects
Major railway system projects are progressing in the Turkish cities of Trabzon and Denizli, though they present different regional challenges.
In Trabzon, concrete steps are being taken toward a long-awaited rail system. While the project is widely supported, local transport workers, specifically taxi and automobile drivers, have expressed concerns regarding their livelihoods. AK Party Trabzon Deputy Adil Karaismailoğlu met with the Trabzon Drivers and Automobile Owners Chamber to discuss these concerns. Authorities have indicated that efforts are underway to minimize losses for drivers and integrate them into the new transportation transition.
In Denizli, Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu reported that infrastructure preparations for the city's tramway line are facing significant costs. He noted that adapting existing infrastructure, specifically lines belonging to DESKİ, will require approximately 1 billion lira. Planning for the rail routes in Denizli has been ongoing since 2008.
