Trabzon Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç Opens $45 Million Drinking Water Projects

The Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality, led by Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç, inaugurated drinking‑water infrastructure built with a 45 million‑TL investment. Completed projects include the Söğütlü‑Ortamahalle water pipeline and the Akyazı Terfi 2 and Terfi 4 lines, intended to relieve chronic water shortages in the Derecik Valley, Akyazı, Gürbulak and Yeşilova neighborhoods, serving roughly 7,800 residents.

At the same ceremony, Mayor Genç announced that work on the Uzunkum Living Area will begin this week, with the official opening slated for the international summit scheduled for 10‑11 September in Trabzon, which will coincide with the COP31 World Climate Conference hosted by Antalya.
