Tradate: 18-year-old woman killed by train near station

An 18-year-old girl was struck and killed by a train near the Tradate-Abbiate Guazzone station in the province of Varese on Wednesday, September 2. The incident occurred around 12:30 PM involving the Regio Express 44 service traveling from Cocquio Trevisago toward Milano Cadorna.

Emergency responders, including the Red Cross and medical personnel, arrived at the scene but could only confirm the young woman's death. Authorities, including the Railway Police and Carabinieri, are conducting investigations to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident. While investigators are looking into all possibilities, including the potential for a voluntary act, official findings have not yet been released.

As a result of the investigation, Trenord suspended rail traffic between Milan and Tradate. Replacement bus services have been implemented between Tradate and Saronno to mitigate travel disruptions. Service remains active between Cocquio Trevisago and Tradate, including stops between Malnate and Tradate.
