Traditional dance festivals held in Veria and Crete

Various traditional dance festivals have taken place across Greece, celebrating regional heritage through music and performance. In Veria, a three-day festival organized by the municipality featured cultural associations from Veria, Patras, and Stavroupoli. The event included diverse performances ranging from Thracian dances to choreographed folk dances, including zeibekiko and hasapiko, as well as demonstrations of traditional wedding customs.

In Crete, the 3rd International Festival of Laikon Traditional Dances drew approximately 1,500 spectators. The event saw significant international participation, notably including over 200 Turkish dancers, alongside attendees from Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, and France. The festival featured a Peace and Peoples parade and large-scale performances in Protopachia and Chania. A symbolic hasapiko dance was performed at the Chania Lighthouse in memory of Reem from Jordan, a dedicated follower of the festival who recently passed away.
