Traditional Japanese craft exhibitions scheduled for late 2026
Two distinct events celebrating traditional Japanese craftsmanship are scheduled for late 2026.
In Komono, the ‘Utsuwa no Tsukurite-ichi’ (Pottery Makers Market) will take place on October 31 and November 1 at the Misuzu Toki Co., Ltd. premises. The event will feature 38 potters, primarily focusing on Banko ware. Visitors can participate in factory tours, including access to kilns used for firing clay pots, and enjoy food from various kitchen trucks.
The 14th TOKYO Shokunin-ten (Tokyo Artisan Exhibition) will be held from November 6 to November 19 at the Traditional Crafts Aoyama Square in Minato, Tokyo. Organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Metropolitan Small and Medium Enterprise Support Center, the exhibition showcases 11 young artisans across nine different craft categories. The event aims to support successor training and expand the consumer base through demonstrations, hands-on experiences, and sales. Featured crafts include Edo binding, Tokyo shamisen making, silverware, and umbrella making. English-language descriptions will be provided to accommodate international visitors.
