Traffic authorities impound vehicles in Dominican Republic and Ecuador
Authorities in the Dominican Republic and Ecuador have seized vehicles following public reports of traffic violations and documentation irregularities.
In Cabeza de Toro, Dominican Republic, the General Directorate of Transit and Land Transportation (DIGESETT) impounded a blue public transport van. The action followed social media reports of the driver traveling against traffic and running a red light in the Verón–Punta Cana area. DIGESETT’s Road Intelligence Division located the vehicle after the incident was widely shared by other drivers.
In Guayaquil, Ecuador, the Transit and Mobility Agency (ATM) intercepted a taxi reported for having illegible and apparently tampered-with license plates. After being identified via the agency’s monitoring center, the vehicle was found to lack the necessary documentation for legal operation. The taxi was subsequently towed to a vehicle retention center for further legal proceedings.
