Police launch mobile radar operations in Portugal and Brazil

Law enforcement agencies in Portugal and Brazil have released details regarding recent and upcoming speed enforcement operations aimed at improving road safety.

In Portugal, the Polícia de Segurança Pública (PSP) has published its mobile radar schedule for August under the “Quem o avisa...” prevention program. The operations are distributed across several districts, including Lisboa, Porto, Setúbal, Coimbra, Santarém, and Évora, targeting high-traffic areas during the summer holiday season to reduce accidents.

In Porto Alegre, Brazil, the Empresa Pública de Transporte e Circulação (EPTC) reported that during the week of August 10 to 16, three drivers were cited for traveling at speeds exceeding 100 km/h in the city's North Zone. These infractions, which exceed the maximum limit by more than 50%, are classified as very serious offenses and can result in fines, license points, and driving suspensions. The EPTC conducted approximately 70 mobile radar operations during that period, inspecting over 22,000 vehicles.
