Traffic congestion reported in Split and Zagreb

Major traffic congestion has been reported in several parts of Croatia, specifically affecting Split and Zagreb.

In Split, a single improperly parked taxi caused significant delays at the ferry port, with vehicle queues extending as far as the Firula area. Local observers noted that the port's aging infrastructure struggles to handle the high volume of passengers and vehicles, which exceeded six million travelers and one million vehicles last year. Critics pointed to poor urban planning and inadequate road designs as contributing factors to the chaos.

In Zagreb, the return of students to school and ongoing roadworks have led to heavy traffic across the metropolitan area. Significant delays were recorded on the Zagreb bypass between the Lučko and Buzin junctions following an accident, as well as on Zagrebačka cesta and Ilica. Police have issued an urgent appeal to drivers to exercise increased caution and reduce speeds near schools to ensure the safety of children returning to the streets.
