Traffic congestion reported on M1 and M5 motorways in Hungary
Significant traffic congestion is affecting major motorways in Hungary. On the M1 motorway, heavy delays of approximately 12 kilometers have been reported between Komárom and Tata in both directions. The disruption on the side heading toward Hegyeshalom is due to an accident at kilometer 88, resulting in the closure of the outer lane at the Komárom junction. Drivers heading toward Budapest are advised to use the diverted inner lane, though delays of nearly 10 kilometers are also occurring at kilometer 61.
On the M5 motorway, nearly 10 kilometers of congestion has formed heading toward Budapest near Újhartyán. The delay is caused by barrier repairs between kilometers 42 and 43, which has restricted traffic to a single inner lane. Authorities recommend that drivers divert at the Örkény junction (number 53) and use main road 5 to avoid the affected section.
