Bulgarian authorities seize cocaine and millions in cigarettes
Bulgarian authorities have conducted two major law enforcement operations targeting smuggling. During Operation Gambit, police at the Kapitan Andreevo border crossing seized 12.63 kilograms of cocaine. The drugs, found in a black bag in a truck cabin, are valued at approximately 1.16 million euros. A 58-year-old citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, identified as Dragan Milić, was arrested while attempting to transport the narcotics from Bulgaria to Turkey. The State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the operation, which targeted an organized crime group involved in drug trafficking across the EU and Turkey.
In a separate effort known as Operation Promet, Bulgarian authorities seized 25 million short cigarettes. The value of the confiscated goods is estimated to be between 4.2 million and 5 million euros.
