Traffic restrictions imposed in Trutnov and Brno as housing and tram projects advance
In the town of Trutnov, authorities announced that traffic on Nad Jezem street will be limited from 17 July until 18 December while the Cash Trade company builds new family homes. A partial restriction will remain in place throughout the period, and a final week‑long full closure is planned for the asphalt‑laying phase. The town’s spokesperson said that emergency vehicles will still be able to pass and that a temporary detour for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes will be provided.
In Brno’s Bystrc district, the construction of a new tram line worth roughly CZK 1.8 billion has forced the closure of existing pedestrian routes and the implementation of detours that complicate daily travel, especially for seniors and parents with strollers. Eurovia CZ is carrying out the works, and the first trams on the 1.4‑km stretch are expected to run by the end of 2027. The municipal transport operator and the contractor acknowledge the inconvenience but stress the importance of the project and the ongoing adjustments to pedestrian corridors.
