Traffic safety concerns rise over signal issues in Belgrade and Nova Gradiška

Traffic safety concerns have been raised regarding malfunctioning or poorly synchronized traffic signals in Belgrade and Nova Gradiška.

In Belgrade, Damir Okanović from the Committee for Traffic Safety highlighted a dangerous situation at the intersection of Cara Dušana and Pjarona de Mondezira streets. He noted that unsynchronized signals confuse drivers, particularly when a tram obscures the view of a primary signal. Okanović suggested that installing hanging signals could resolve the visibility issues and noted that the legality of certain signal regimes in new roundabouts remains a concern.

In Nova Gradiška, officials addressed a prolonged malfunction of traffic lights at the intersection of Benkovićeva, Haulikova, and Strossmayerova streets. The city reported that the failure has persisted for over a month. Repairs are currently delayed because the County Road Administration must undergo a public procurement process to acquire the necessary equipment to fix the major fault.
