Tragedies reported in Dominican Republic and Guatemala

In San Gregorio de Nigua, Dominican Republic, a five-year-old girl named Cristal died following an accidental drowning at a country villa pool. The incident has caused significant distress within the local community and among the child's family members.

In Siquinalá, Guatemala, a 56-year-old woman, Gloria Cabrera, was killed by her 20-year-old son, Giancarlo Méndez. Family members report that Méndez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and believed he was defending himself against a supernatural entity during the attack. Relatives stated they had previously sought medical assistance for the young man's unstable behavior but were unable to secure the necessary psychiatric evaluation. Méndez was apprehended by the National Civil Police and faces potential charges of parricide or aggravated homicide.
