Tragwein forest fire quickly contained by volunteer brigades

On the early morning of 14 July 2026, a forest fire broke out in the municipality of Tragwein in the Freistadt district of Austria. The volunteer fire services of Tragwein, Hinterberg and Mistlberg were alerted at 04:57 and responded.

Using a drone to locate the blaze, crews identified a roughly 650‑square‑metre area of burning forest. They laid a long hose line, applied water with multiple hoses, and used hand tools to dig out hot spots, preventing re‑ignition. The fire was brought under control quickly.
