Barra do Piraí: Five dead in multi-vehicle collision on BR-393

A major traffic accident on the BR-393 highway in Barra do Piraí, Rio de Janeiro, resulted in five deaths and nine injuries on Saturday morning. The collision involved a truck carrying floor tiles and four passenger vehicles near the Trevo do Matadouro.

The five fatalities, all members of a single family from Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, have been identified as Anderson Nocelli Clemente, Jussara Oliveira Tertuliano Clemente, Sarah Nocelli, Marcela Tertuliano, and Bernardo Tertuliano Visona. The family was reportedly traveling toward Paraty when the incident occurred.

Emergency responders, including the Fire Department and SAMU, worked to extract victims from the wreckage. Nine people sustained injuries, some of whom were treated at local hospitals such as Santa Casa and Hospital Maria de Nazaré. The highway was temporarily closed to allow for rescue operations and technical investigations by the Civil Police and the Federal Highway Police (PRF).
