Slovakia railway derailment and helicopter crash disrupt transport

A passenger train derailed near the Rajci station in eastern Slovakia when three axles of the motor unit left the tracks as the train entered the station. No injuries were reported, but railway traffic was halted from 09:15 while Železnice Slovenskej republiky (ZSSK) worked to clear the line and restore service.

In a separate incident, a two‑crew helicopter collided with another aircraft during a rescue operation, causing one rotor to strike the other helicopter’s underside. The impact led to an explosion and the crash of the helicopter. One crew member survived and contacted the fire‑department control centre, while contact with the second crew has not yet been established. Emergency services are conducting rescue and investigation efforts.
