Train fire in Larissa halts Athens service, passengers endure nine‑hour delay

A fire broke out in a carriage of the morning train from Larissa to Athens on Sunday, 12 July, forcing the service to be cancelled. Passengers were instructed to continue to the capital by bus.

The replacement bus did not arrive until late afternoon, leaving travelers waiting up to nine hours in total and arriving in Athens about six hours later than scheduled. Commuters complained about the lengthy wait and the lack of timely information from railway officials.
