Training courses announced for visual disability support in Italy

Several training initiatives focused on visual disability, Braille, and assistive technology are being launched in Italy to support educators and healthcare professionals.

In Taranto, the Unione Italiana dei Ciechi e degli Ipovedenti ETS-APS will host an 80-hour course starting in November 2026. The program covers Braille literacy, logical-mathematical education, and the use of information technology for blind and low-vision students. The course is designed for up to 20 participants specializing in school integration and rehabilitation.

In the Piedmont region, Asl Novara, in collaboration with the Unione Italiana dei Ciechi e degli Ipovedenti of Novara and the Novara Anti-discrimination Node, is organizing training sessions titled ‘Visual disability between clinic, psychology, and care practice’. These sessions will take place on November 6 in Borgomanero and November 26 in Novara. The curriculum includes psychological aspects, rehabilitation paths, mobility tools such as white canes and guide dogs, and tactile solutions. The program is accredited for Continuing Medical Education (ECM).
